We went to a frog jumping contest sponsored by the Dublin Kiwanis to raise money for Children's Hospital in Columbus. It is pretty amazing. They gather frogs from God knows where and bring them to the park. They are kept in these huge tanks that look like big kiddie pools. The white things are pieces of styrofoam that some of the frogs are floating on. There were probably half a dozen pools with dozens of frogs in them.

The kids pay for a chance to make a frog jump. A huge ring is spray painted onto the grass. On the signal to start, the kids begin to try to make their frog jump outside of the ring. The rule though, is that kids cannot touch their frog, and they cannot let their feet go outside of a smaller ring painted within the larger ring. This little girl is our 3 yr old neighbor Meridith. They are a little more lax with the rules for the littler kids.

Meghan had a pretty active frog. Andrew's frog was a big jumper. He won his round which allowed him to move to another level of competition. He didn't go on further though.

Andrew is checking the placement of his feet. You can see the outer ring. His frog was about half way there!

He had a big frog. The picture doesn't do him justice. The funny thing was that some frogs just refused to move. So kids would lay there on the ground pounding the grass trying to get these frogs to jump. The park was next to a big creek and I think sometimes frogs would smell the water. Then if there was a break in the crowds around the ring, the frogs would take off jumping for freedom! That was the funniest part of the day, watching the wranglers try to catch the runaways.
